Welcome to the leatherback turtle conservation project at Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas, Costa Rica.

New....
The 2002/03 season is underway, so far there have not been as many turtles as we had hoped. Results for this season are available here (updated Feb 11th 2003).

The complete results of the main project and the hatchery from the 2001/02 season (posted February 18, 2002).

Here you can find information about the project, other activities taking place and turtle biology in general. Our results from the current season are presented and will be updated regularly so you can experience "live" biology taking place in a remote field site. The field season for 2002/03 is now underway and you can follow the progress of conservation work and data collection during this time and after. Select one of the options in the panel on the left to learn more about these amazing animals and what Drexel University, Indiana Purdue University and Earthwatch are doing to study and protect them.
